![]() Not all these members are regular users, but there are plenty of users we only hear about by accident. We have 2,596 members in the Yahoo user group. We’ve released three updates so far this year for the Standard version and five for the Latest version.Įstimated number of regular users: We don’t have reliable numbers for this. The Latest is generally stable, but may not have an up-to-date manual. We have two versions: a “Standard” one, with mostly bug fixes, and a “Latest” (or “Beta”) one with new features. We release them when we feel they are stable and contain enough new things to justify a release. OmegaT is available in 35 languages, with complete documentation in 14 languages.įrequency of updates: We don’t schedule updates. We also have a large number of translators, some regular and some occasional. We have one documentation manager, one localization manager, and two Facebook community managers. Currently, we only have two people contributing regularly (the integration manager and I), but we had seven different contributors in 2017. For development, we have occasional contributors rather than a fixed number of developers who might contribute after months or even years of inactivity. Number of current OmegaT team members: I’m the project manager and the Twitter community manager. Number of supported file formats: 40 native formats, plus 15 formats provided by the Okapi plugin, for a total of 55. You can contact him at Can you give us some idea of OmegaT by the numbers? He is also a member of the Société française des traducteurs. In parallel to his translation activities, he provides consulting, training, support and development services, mostly on free translation environments. He started contributing to OmegaT in 2006, became development manager in 2007, and project manager in 2014. After a first career in computing, notably as product architect, technical director, and marketing and strategy director within European enterprise software vendors, Didier became a translator and a consultant in 2004. My intention is to use RegEx to suggest : ‘1st word singular derivative’ + ‘2nd word as is’.I decided to talk with Didier Briel, OmegaT’s project manager, about the tool and its users. Today I was able to trim down most borderline cases with pronouns and prepositions. Some changes on the ones I want to be reviewed at the moment. ![]() Reduced the focus of the available rules. Rules moved to new forum post for easier reading and neatiness. I added … tags as well as ‘…’ but these do not seam to work either. This alerts the user better to the issue and allows a better choice of the fix to be done, specially on number concordance, that should follow extended RegEx rules like the ones I created for gender concordance (see first two for the dumb question, but… I can not see the icon. I have also extended the markup to both words. I will be working on them in the next week. I have tested it in my local build with newspaper articles and it is working great but more refinements can be done. I have added regex variations so that concordance rules apply to more cases, as the general grammar rules pointout. Yesterday I figured the code a bit more and improved the code, so these snippets should not be used. ![]() I should not have included it, but this rule has been very improved in the meantime. For example: Dum (de um) lado(s) da bancada. Many was a poorly used example since it is not usually used in formal language.īut it can be applied. Os|aos|dos|nos|uns|duns|nuns|alguns|pelos Replace Rule: OS_MALE-SINGULAR_PLURAL-VERB Replace Rule: O_MALE-PLURAL_SINGULAR-VERB Replace Rule: AS_FEMALE-SINGULAR_PLURAL-VERB Īs|às|das|nas|umas|dumas|numas|algumas|pelas Replace Rule: A_FEMALE-PLURAL_SINGULAR-VERB Any better way to paste and share the rules from the rules’ editor? I tried the (without the ") but it doesn’t work. PS - I am trying to show the code but the XML tags are processed and they are not shown in this post. ![]() This pack of rules expands the existing rules for article_nouns congruency. Now I have started learning how to improve Language tools and I would like to share here the first “patch", since it can be also used in other Portuguese variants (like pt-BR). So far I have managed to make some improvements to auto-correction, spell-checker (still under revisions) and thesaurus. I am also a Portuguese translator, and in the last months I have been trying to improve pt-PT proofing tools used in LibreOffice. ![]()
